This Jager is wearing the standard early war uniform for combat. The Gebirgsjager was known for being an aggressive fighter and took heavy losses because they did not have the heavy equipment that standard infantry division did. However, once the rough terrain was entered, the Gebirgsjager was in his element and almost unstoppable.

Standard Jager Uniform

· M36 Field Jacket

· M36 Pants (reinforced)

· Bergmutze

· Belt with no Y-straps (Black)

· 1 liter canteen

· Bread bag

· Ammo pouches (here he is wearing engineer pouches) (Black or Brown)

· M31 Rucksack with all other items

· Mountain boots

· K98 Rifle

While the above Jager is pictured with M36 Jacket and pants, as the war progressed, any standard type jacket or pants were used by the Gebirgsjager.

The Gebirgsjager did have many types of other specialized clothing that is covered in the other pages under special uniforms and equipment.
